14" Used Renishaw Coordinate Measuring Machines , Mdl. Mitutoyo Bright Apex 12.30.10, Thoroughly cleaned all parts of the CMM. The CMM was sitting unused for a long while and had a thick layer of dirt / grime over every exposed surface., Checked and cleaned air bearings., Inspected the scales on the CMM for damage. Found the X axis scale to be cracked and needs to be replaced. Advised Dave that this item would have to be ordered from Hexagon directly., Swapped Y axis reader head., Coordinated with Hera's maintenance department to hook up air to the machine., Repaired (2) areas with cracked tubing., Hooked up wiring between the interface to the CMM and controller., Hooked up the computer controlling the CMM., Found that the drive for the controller is flashing a fault light and will not load the error map. The PC-DMIS license key expired and prevented us from troubleshooting the drive through the software. Tried a secondary solution but could not get on the in, Called off-site IT support and had the computer hard drive added to Hera’s domain. The hard drive is running XP Pro OS from 2007. This took tech support quite some time to configure. Next steps:, Troubleshoot the controller’s drive, Troubleshoot why the error map isn’t loading. If we cannot get it to load, a new laser error mapping of the machine will need to be completed., Replace the damaged X axis scale., Update existing PC-DMIS license or replace with CMM Manager / Verisurf., Calibrate the CMM., Year(2009) #C5235
